Does Rublon MFA for RD Web Access support RD Web Windows Authentication / Single Sign-On?

The Rublon MFA for RD Web Access connector does not currently support RD Web Windows Authentication / Single Sign-On. We found that having both enabled may lead to issues with user authentication.


Kindly disable RD Web Windows Authentication / Single Sign-On before installing Rublon MFA for RD Web Access to avoid authentication issues.


Support for RD Web Windows Authentication/Single Sign-On is on our roadmap.


How to disable RD Web Windows Authentication / Single Sign-On?

To disable RD Web Windows Authentication / Single Sign-On:

  1. Log in to the Remote Desktop Web Access server.

  2. Open Explorer and go to C:\Windows\Web\RDWeb\Pages.

  3. Make a backup copy of the web.config file.

  4. Open Notepad as Administrator

  5. Open C:\Windows\Web\RDWeb\Pages\web.config

  6. Comment the <authentication mode=”Windows”/> section.

  7. Uncomment the <authentication mode=”Forms”> section.

  8. Uncomment <modules> and <security> sections in <system.webServer> section at the end of the file.

  9. Open IIS Console on the RD Web Access Server.

  10. Expand to RD Web folder.

  11. Double-click Authentication.

  12. Enable Basic Authentication and disable Windows Authentication.
