Confirming Yubico OTP is not working
Test your YubiKey with Yubico OTP to confirm your key is not working:
1. Go to https://demo.yubico.com/otp/verify and follow the instructions.
2. If you receive an error message saying “Failed to validate OTP” (or a similar error), follow the steps below.
Configuring Yubico OTP
1. Download, install, and launch the Yubico Authenticator.
2. Insert your YubiKey into your computer’s USB port.
3. You should see your YubiKey listed in the device list.
4. From the menu on the left, select Slots, then select Short touch.
5. In the Setup section on the right, select Yubico OTP.
6. In the Public ID field, click the Use serial star icon on the right to use the serial number of the YubiKey for Public ID.
7. In the Private ID and Secret key fields, click the Generate random icon on the right to generate new values.
8. Ensure the Append option is checked.
9. By default, No export file is selected. Expand the dropdown, choose Select file, and select the save location on your device’s filesystem.
10. Click Save to save your new configuration.
11. Open https://upload.yubico.com/ and load the Yubico OTP credential from the CSV file you just exported.
12. In the OTP from YubiKey field, make sure the cursor is in the field and then touch your YubiKey to generate the new OTP.
13. Complete the CAPTCHA challenge and click Upload.
14. Click Try it out, and follow the instructions on the page to test your YubiKey.
