Installing Rublon MFA for Outlook Web App (OWA) does not affect ActiveSync in any way.
Rublon for OWA does not add multi-factor authentication to the EWS (Exchange Web Service) and ActiveSync endpoints. As a result, ActiveSync clients will not be challenged for MFA.
It’s important to note that after installing Rublon for OWA, the ActiveSync endpoint continues to operate as before. Users can continue to use ActiveSync as they did before the integration, without any additional security prompts or procedures. For this reason, we advise against making the ActiveSync endpoint accessible externally, as it does not benefit from the added layer of security provided by Rublon MFA.
